Sequim, Washington

Lenny Horst, pictured above, gives us a tour of one of the greenhouses he runs. A horticulturist, Lenny is responsible for replenishing nutrients back into the plants and enhancing the microbiology. By the way,  we shot the interview in the greenhouse, it looked great! Natural, diffused lighting…wonderful.

Coronado, California

Coronado is beautiful. Every time I go, I never want to leave. Although, we were only there for a few short days we made the most of it! Including a visit to the famous McP’s Pub, the SEAL bar on Orange Avenue.

Don’s Interview

Don Crawford during his interview at his home in Coronado, California. He explains their intense training on the Coronado beaches and the mental strength it takes to endure.

Crawdad

After Alaska, we flew to Seattle to interview Lenny Horst then on to San Diego for Don “Crawdad” Crawford.

I spy moose!

It was total moose country on the trail to Rip’s place we spotted two moose, a mom and  her calf nestled back in the branches.

Snow Machine

Rip had four or five different cabins on his property for storage and such. He lived in one temporarily while he built the home he lives in now. All the logs were pulled in by snow mobile (snow machine as they call them) from a 5 mile radius.

Quick Hits

Interviewing Rip Bliss and Steve Frisk at Rip’s log cabin in Alexander Creek, Alaska. Commenting on a photo of the daytime op and other lighting strike missions that usually only lasted 15 minutes

Love Wide Lenses

We were constantly using the 8mm-15mm Canon fisheye in Alaska. Especially, when riding the snow mobiles and it was only 20 degrees, pretty mild for Alaska. Cameras never froze! Whoo-hoo!

Mr. Rip Bliss

Our Alaskan tour guide took care of us. He was the ultimate host; always lending a hand even when yours truly tipped a snow mobile. Here he uses a come along to hoist the Cadillac size beast. Rip lives in Alexander Creek; directions are…1 hour north of Anchorage…..3 hrs west on snowmobile (no joke)…and around the bend on a bluff there lies a massive house he and his wife Anne built. Amazing.
